Sabeer Bhatia Unveils Live Documents

Hotmail co-founder Sabeer Bhatia has launched a software product called Live Documents, which he claims has all the features of Microsoft Office 2007 and is available online for free.

"Live Documents will give you the same experience of Microsoft Office 2007 - which costs USD 400 - for free online," said Bhatia. "Live Documents mean Microsoft Office 2007 will be available in a browser. Many users can access a document simultaneously."

Live Documents has been developed with Java and Flash and it would work across platforms, he said.

With regards to security he said, "Documents would be completely secured on the Net. They are encrypted in the back-end. The user can give digital rights on who should open the document."

"If Live Documents makes 1 per cent of Microsoft Office revenues, then we would earn USD 200 million a year. If Live Documents makes 10 per cent of Microsoft Office revenues then our revenues would be USD 2 billion a year in the next three to four years", said Bhatia.

Live Documents has been developed by his Bangalore-based company InstaColl.
