Gadgets Inspired By The Transformers(part 3)

Honorable Mention
Transformer 1.0 – Drawing board Concept in Action
This may actually be the very first of its kind. A working Transformer in action. A guy called Nakamura-san from Japan developed his version of a real live Transformer and entered a contest called Robo-One with it. It’s a rudimentary bot that gives us quite an idea of what can be accomplished if you put your mind to it or watch too much TV. Nevertheless it’s another start. Nakamura has paved the way for engineers with his small car like device that converts into a robot that can even walk around. It’s amazing.

I’m sure there may be plenty more out there. In case you ‘run across’ any or they over you, why don’t you log onto our forums and share them with the rest of the Techies out there. I’m sure they’ll want to know. You could also mail and we’ll try and include them in another feature. For now I leave you with this Transformer Fans – Autobots, Roll Out.

Gadgets Inspired By The Transformers(part 2)

These are also two characters from the Transformers universe. And Takara Tomy has crafted these little guys into portable earphones; perhaps they could help enhance the Soundwave Mp3 player, who knows. But they are cool nevertheless. You could also use them on any other player as well.

They transform from normal (slightly large) earphones into these cool little robots on your ears. I have to admit though; they do look a bit odd. Kind of like two odd people hanging from your ears.

Optimus Prime PC Case Mod
Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots is an extremely popular figure with cartoon or comic book fans. In fact he’s such a large figure someone actually decided to construct a CPU Case Mod in his like. It isn’t a small one either, standing at six feet Ten Inches.

It’s not some normal PC either (obviously), in the sense that it’s a high-powered Intel Dual Core PC. It even has a 7 inch LCD on the body itself with separate storage space built into the legs. The body also transforms to fit on your desktop. Gimmeee!!!

3 Gadgets Inspired By The Transformers

The Transformers have been a phenomenon since way back when Punk Rock was a new concept and there was no such thing as a Telly-Tubbie (thank God!). There really isn’t any need to explain why. Vehicles turn into Robots. Need I say more? Nope. Didn’t think so. Artificial intelligence at it’s best, Robots with personalities and the never ending struggle of Good versus Evil. The good thing is that most of their adventures were right here, on our very own, planet Earth with human heroes as well. The recent Transformers movie has rocked the world with its spectacular graphics and a look and feel that’ll make Transformers fans feel nostalgic. But what these ‘Robots in Disguise’ have spawned is a sense of creativity to design everyday devices to be like them. Here are a few of them.

Cell Phone Transformer – Communitron (Tech2 nickname)
The cell phone is today’s portable computer. It’s not artificially intelligent, well not too much anyways. But it’s a step in that direction nevertheless. But what if your cell phone had a mind of it’s own? What if it could actually transform into sentient being and wreck havoc on your a**? Or protect it? Hell I know I’d want one! It just so happens the guys down at Parkoz Hardware have this great concept for a mobile phone that converts into this little robot that actually shoots bullets and stuff. How cool is that.

Soundwave Mp3 Player – Rockin’ Robo
For those who came in late, Soundwave is the Decepticons (the baddies) infiltration expert. He transformed into a Boombox from which 3 cassettes pope out each transforming into individual Decepticons (Rumble, Laserbeak and Ravage). Takara Tomy, the Toy maker (now that’s an Alliteration if I ever saw one) has given the world an honest-to-goodness Soundwave mp3 player that transforms. And the best part yet – pop open the cassette part on the front and you can slip in an SD card for more memory. AWESOME!
