Fujitsu Launches New Lifebook Models

Fujitsu has announced two new additions to its SOHO and business user lines: the Lifebook S6510 and the Lifebook S2710. These laptops are designed with both security and performance in mind for the road warrior or the busy executive.

The 14.1-inch widescreen LifeBook S6510 weighs just 4 pounds and packs an array of features ranging from a choice of speedy Intel Core 2 Duo processors (ranging from 2 GHz to 2.4 GHz clock speed), up to 4GB RAM, a combo DVD/CD-RW or dual-layer DVD writer, a selection of shock-mounted hard drives ranging from 40GB to 120GB, a magnesium-alloy body, turbo memory, 1.3-megapixel webcam for videoconferencing, 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, and Windows Vista Business or XP operating system.

The S7210 boasts the same features as the S6510, but includes a dedicated smartcard slot, an ExpressCard/54 slot and an option of using Windows Vista Home Premium in addition to Vista Business or XP.

In terms of security, Fujtisu has provided a biometric fingerprint reader, TPM, a theft-deterrent security panel with more than 800,000 passwords, and the optional Computrace LoJack service, which tracks and recovers lost or stolen notebooks when they connect to the web.

The Fujitsu LifeBook S6510 ($1,529) and LifeBook S7210 ($1,329) are now available in retail channels.
