Apple, who has been on a roll ever since it moved to the Intel platform, added another feather to its cap. They have announced that consumers will now be able to order new Mac Pro's, which can be equipped dual 4-core Intel Clovertown processors which makes a total no of 8 processors available for use.
This new upgrade represents a significant move towards making the Mac Pro the preferred workstation, for business and developmental purposes. The Clovertown processors that the Mac Pro are being equipped with, are powerful performers sporting speeds of of 3 GHz , 8 MB of L2 cache effectively and come with a 1066/1333 MHz FSB.
The base configuration for the Mac Pro starts at $2,499 with two 2.66 GHz dual –core Woodcrest Xeons. For the highest end configuration which is the 8-core core option consumers will have to shell out $1500 more.
