Philips Launches New Universal Remote

Philips will extend its range of Prestigo premium universal remote controls with the launch of the new SRU8015 model. The development of the new Philips Prestigo has focused on ease-of-use, with channel icons now displayed to give access to programs coupled with the ability to control up to 15 home entertainment devices.

The device features a 2”, 176 x 220 full-color LCD screen, a rotary wheel and white key backlighting for navigation. With its advanced on-screen set-up wizard, the universal remote can be used without needing to access a PC, or a complex manual. Once set up, the SRU8015’s rotary wheel and FAV (for favorites), HOME and MORE navigation buttons provide instant selection of video and audio entertainment.

The FAV button immediately directs users to a screen where up to 100 preferred channel icons can be selected (from a total choice of 400), allowing users to select favorite programs by icon rather than needing to remember digit keys. By pressing 'MORE', users can access a page of special functions that ensure all existing remote control functionality is available in the SRU8015, while the HOME button provides an icon-based overview of devices that can be controlled or activities to be selected.

The SRU8015 universal remote supports almost any product, and can learn codes of new remotes simply by pointing the handset and the device or existing remote control at each other. The product also allows users to enter text for activities, device names and functions added to the device.

The SRU8015 is available now for an approximate high street selling price of £99.99.
