Pentax Launches the Compact Optio A40

Pentax U.K. has announced the newest addition to its high-end Optio A-Series range with the introduction of the Optio A40. Pentax's first 12.0 effective megapixel camera boasts three types of anti-shake technology and a new 'Dynamic Range Adjustment', enabling users to take ultra-high definition images with superior tone reproduction.

The Optio A40 incorporates a new 1/1.7 CCD image sensor and smc Pentax lens. The 'Dynamic Range Adjustment' function also prevents white outs and black outs by correcting tones in highlighted or shadowed areas of a subject, enabling users to capture great images even in difficult lighting conditions, particularly if shooting against the sun. In addition, the cameras 2.5 inch LCD monitor offers improved screen brightness, for easier viewing outdoors, particularly in strong sunlight.

Like previous models in the A-Series, the Optio A40 camera boasts three types of anti-shake technology - Shake Reduction, Digital Shake Reduction and Movie Shake Reduction. The Optio A40 also includes Pentax's 'Face Recognition AF&AE' technology.

The Optio A40 will be available from November at a guide price of £219.00. No news on the Indian price and launch date yet.
