Gibson Announces World's First Robotic Guitar

What could be more interestingly bizarre than a musical instrument that plays itself? Soon they will begin to compose, and take people like music director Sandeep Chowta out of business. Speaking of Sandeep Chowta, ironically it's Gibson Guitar and he who are partnering to bring the world’s first guitar with robotic technology, the Gibson Robot Guitar, to life on Tuesday, December 4, 2007. Tech2 will be there to check it out for sure.

The music director will demonstrate and perform with the world’s 1st run limited edition version of the Gibson Les Paul Robot Guitar.

After checking out the performance, we learn that its a self tuning guitar, and doesn't really play itself. This, according to us is a brilliant piece of innovation, and seeing it pstrut its stuff was very impressive. After playing teh instrument for while, tunig it back is as simple as turning a knob and strumming the strings once or twice.

It has preset tunings, and quite a large variety of them, which trigger the mechanical tuning keys at the head of the guitar to turn around like little robots. Sound wise the guitar is awesome, no compromise there.

Across the Globe, the Gibson Robot Guitar goes on sale at 5pm on Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 with a very limited number of guitars at each of the participating dealers. The price is $2500 odd, and will be available in India in 2008, when Gibson comes down here and starts retailing.
