Sabarimala Darshan Now Just a Click Away

Starting next year, devotees of the famed Sabarimala temple in Kerala's western ghats can pay their obeisance through cyberspace.

"We're working towards the implementation of this through a website where devotees could have an e-darshan and this would be ready by next year," said CK Guptan, president of the Travancore Devasom Board.

With the annual festival season set to commence from November 17, Guptan said that facilities are being given final touches and this season there would be a complete ban on plastics.

"There will be no supply of water in plastic bottles, and all those who bring bottles have to see that they drop it in designated places after which they would be disposed of," he added.

He also said that the security at the temple town would be strengthened and a sum of Rs 40 million would be spent on this.

Plans for constructing a ropeway from the foothills of the temple to the top for transporting goods and services, and a 500-bed hospital at Pathanamthitta are also on the cards, according to Guptan.
