New 40GB PS3 on the Way?

Opposable Thumbs has word (from a reliable source) that there’s a new 40GB PS3 in the works, that’ll supposedly be priced at USD $399. If this is true, with pricing like this SKU will hit the sweet spot, boosting sales a good bit the coming holiday season. That said, if they actually go ahead with this move, it’ll be quite hypocritical of them; if I remember correctly, they’d ridiculed Microsoft for having multiple SKUs that could 'confuse' the customers.

All said, I hope that the PS3 goes on steam soon and that they sell enough consoles this holiday season to get back into the game.
